Birth Doula support

What is a Doula?

Doulas provide non-medical support during pregnancy, labour, and postpartum.

Physical support from a birth doula may include massage, hot and cold packs, keeping you hydrated, assistance with different labouring positions, and helping your partner to support you.  Postpartum doula support includes baby care so you can sleep, light housework, keeping you fed and your water bottle filled, and guiding you in the care of your newborn.

Emotional support includes encouragement, praise and positivity. As your Birth Doula I create a calm environment, reassuring and believing in you on your birth journey.  My support helps you feel more in control and confident.  I am able to quietly care for you, keeping you aware of your progress, and helping you navigate any changes to your birth plan.  Postpartum I check in with how you are feeling, debrief the birth, listen to you, and cheer you on as a new Mum.

Informational support from your birth and postpartum doula includes guiding you and

your partner through pregnancy, birth, and newborn days. Doulas prepare you for your birth and becoming a parent by discussing options for everything, from positions in labour, to pain management, to newborn care, helping you find evidence-based information to make informed choices, and going over your birth plan to ensure you have thought through the birth you would like to have.   As your Doula I offer unbiased support for your decisions.  Postpartum I help connect you with the village that will support you, and help you find the answers for all your questions.
